Another City Declares Itself a “Sanctuary for the Unborn”

PATRIOTS OF AMERICA - Aug 6, 2020 -

If you’ve been anywhere but hiding under a rock these last few years, you likely know all about the robust national conversation going on about immigration and the ongoing construction of the border wall.

You have probably also heard about the many “sanctuary cities” that have been erected in an attempt to stop President Trump’s efforts to decrease the number of illegal immigrants on our soil.

But now, in a table-turning move against the progressive left, the term “sanctuary city” is getting a new definition.

And one that protects the lives of the unborn.

Just as the declaration of sanctuaries for immigrants became popular once Trump took office, now city after city is naming itself a safe haven for unborn children and, in so doing, putting an effective stop to abortion.

The latest city to do so is East Mountain, Texas, as KETK-TV reports. On July 20, the town legislatively declared abortion as unconstitutional and, as such, providers such as Planned Parenthood are not allowed to set up shop within the city’s limits.

And East Mountain is just one in a growing movement to declare itself a “sanctuary city for the unborn.”

According to KETK, the first city to do was Waskom, Texas. And since then, a whole strand of others have followed in their footsteps, each declaring itself a place where abortion cannot be allowed and where all lives, even those who are not born yet, are cherished.

As the Waskom ordinance says, both Roe vs. Wade and any other abortion permitting laws can be overridden and banished from their city, as they are “unconstitutional usurpations of judicial power, which violate both the Tenth Amendment and the Republican Form of Government Clause, and are null and void in the City of Waskom.”

Per the U.S. Constitution and it’s 10th Amendment, any powers that are not given to the federal government are left to the states or general population to decide. As abortion is not explicitly mentioned or given control of by any specific level of government, it must be something that the people and local governments can decide upon, even if that ruling overrides what the feds have said on the matter.

The cities also use Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution to defend their decision. It states, “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.”

And as for abortion, the willful murder of children in their most vulnerable stages of development is domestic violence at the very highest level; it should be the government’s responsibility to protect the nation against it.
