U.S. and China ‘are on the brink of war,’ Billionaire Ray Dalio and others warn

- SARA CARTER - STAFF - APRIL 28, 2023 -

The United States and China are on the brink of war, said billionaire Ray Dalio. Dalio returned from China recently and his experience there was unlike what he had encountered on past trips into the region. He warned “the scale of the threat” that the Communist Chinese Party poses to global and American national security is at an apex.

Dalio published an article on the social media site Linked-In regarding the “great power conflict. ” He said what’s going on with China is unlike anything he has witnessed in the past and his last two recent visits to Beijing strengthened those fears.

“The United States and China are on the brink of war and are beyond the ability to talk,” Dalio wrote. “I want to emphasize that by saying that they are on the brink, I don’t mean to say that they will necessarily go over the brink. I mean to say that they are very close to crossing red lines that, if crossed, will irrevocably push them over the brink into some type of war that damages these two countries and causes damage to the world order in severe and irrevocable ways—like Russia’s invasion of Ukraine did for Russia and the world, just much bigger.”

Dalio isn’t the only one warning of a possible impending war between the United States and the Chinese nuclear power but policy analysts, including prominent China expert and author Gordan Chang are also issuing dire warnings.

Chang told me on a recent The Sara Carter Show podcast that China is determined to be globally dominant and is pursuing both economic and warlike actions against the United States and its assets globally to effort that reality. Part of making Beijing’s plans a reality is the formation of new stronger alliances with adversaries of the United States, Chang said.

Chang emphasized that not even past historical conflicts can compare to what the Chinese Communist Party is doing today.

“You know, a lot of people will say, Oh, how about 1962, the Cuban Missile Crisis, or 1961, the Checkpoint Charlie crisis in Berlin,” he said. “What we now know from the Soviet archives is that Khrushchev was not willing to use his nuclear weapons. And we course know that Kennedy didn’t want to, but right now, we don’t know what Vladimir Putin or Xi Jinping will do. And both are making threats, unprovoked threats to use their most destructive weapons.”

Chang noted that this is a critical moment, adding that the perfect storm is being aided by feckless and dangerous leadership in Washington D.C.
