Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, says he'll investigate the Justice Department's raid on former President Trump's Mar-a-Lago home if the GOP retakes the upper chamber in the November midterm elections.
"If I’m in the majority, and I’m chairman of the Judiciary Committee, again, I intend to pursue all of these things until we get to the bottom of it," Grassley told Breitbart News on Saturday.
He also said he has no doubt that Republicans will retake the House this fall and that lawmakers have a "constitutional responsibility" to investigate the FBI's raid authorized by Attorney General Merrick Garland.
"Under Republican and Democrat administrations, we get a great deal of runaround from the Justice Department," Grassley also said. "And I’ve even been told by whistleblowers within the Justice Department that 'we’re not going to do any of Grassley’s investigations."
For years, Grassley has questioned the department over its alleged investigatory bias when handling such investigations – from information on the laptop of President Biden's son Hunter Biden to Crossfire Hurricane, the FBI's counterintelligence probe into a possible connection between Russian officials and the 2016 Trump presidential campaign.
