An internal DHS intelligence report reveals that the Department of Homeland Security has information warning Border Patrol agents to be on the lookout for violent criminals entering the United States illegally from Venezuela among the illegal migrant caravans, according information first obtained by Breitbart news and sources interviewed by SaraACarter.com. These violent inmates were allegedly released from prison early, pushed to join caravans heading to the United States, according to DHS sources that spoke to SaraACarter.com.
The document obtained by Breitbart, however, proves the concern regarding criminal migrants is serious enough to issue warning to federal law enforcement officials manning the border. However, it might be too late. It is believed that more than 3 million illegal immigrants have already entered the United States since President Biden took office and removed all of President Donald Trump’s Executive Orders to tighten border security that he had in place.
The issue of prisoner releases by U.S. adversaries is not new. A very similar situation occurred during the Cuban ‘Mariel’ boat-lift in 1980. It is a concern that I’ve discussed on past trips to Central America with members of Congress. Many of members of the GOP border caucus have been investigating information that they have received regarding the issue. Those concerns became exacerbated as the number of young adult males traveling to the U.S. in caravans began to grow from hundreds to thousands.
Republican Texas Congressman Troy Nehls told SaraACarter.com on Sunday, the report confirms information Congress has been hearing for years regarding the release of prisoners by adversarial nations, like Venezuela, to access the southwest border for illegal entry into the United States.
“This bombshell report confirms what we’ve known for years,” stated Nehls. “Our adversaries despise what America stands for and take pride in emptying their prisons filled with the most violent and sick individuals to walk the earth and send them to our southern border, where they know they’ll have no trouble getting in.”
More importantly, Nehls stated that “our overworked border patrol agents can only do so much when President Biden gives everyone a no strings attached invitation into this country.”
Thus far, DHS states that between October 2021 and July 2022, more than 130,000 Venezuelan migrants have been encountered by Border Patrol agents along the border.
It is no surprise that this is happening. On my recent trip to Central America, a number of senior level officials, to include Guatemalan President Alejandro Eduardo Giammattei, warned that among the migrants fleeing to the United States were many criminals and possible prisoners that appeared to have been released early from nations like Venezuela.
As I noted earlier, Venezuela’s actions for prisoner release, is no surprise.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, along with his close relationship to Cuba, make his actions only logical. Since it was Cuba that first tested releasing prisoners in the early 80s.
In April of 1980, then Cuban leader Fidel Castro allowed more than 125,000 Cubans to leave Cuba on boats to head for the United States. It was known as the “Mariel Boat Lift.” The boat-lift was a major problem for then U.S. President Jimmy Carter after it was discovered that a good portion of the exiles had been released from Cuban jails and mental health facilities. When that was discovered many of the people were placed in refugee camps. Others had to be held in federal prisons and some were made to undergo deportation hearings. But it was already too late.
“Of the 125,000 ‘Marielitos,’ as the refugees came to be known, who landed in Florida, more than 1,700 were jailed and another 587 were detained until they could find sponsors,” according to the History Channel. However, according to my family, who came to the United States in the late 1960s on the Johnson Freedom Flights and knew some of the people who arrived on the Mariel, many more of those prisoners had already been released into the U.S.
The report, according to Breitbart, “indicates the Venezuelan government, under the leadership of Nicolás Maduro Moros, is purposely freeing inmates — including some convicted of murder, rape, and extortion.”
Intelligence reports obtained by SaraACarter.com recently also warn agents that many of those crossing into the United States also have prison records that include child sexual predators, murder and rape.
The documents obtained by Breitbart reveal that freed prisoners have been “seen within migrant caravans traveling from Tapachula, Mexico toward the U.S.-Mexico border as recently as July.”
