RESIST THE MAINSTREAM - Gary Ray - DEC 20, 2022
Hoping to become a standout champion who ushers in the people’s will, Ocasio-Cortez coordinated the development of a film that documents her push for her Green New Deal Climate Change agenda.

Firebrand “Squad member” Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) recently received a sobering assessment of her political clout and following.
Hoping to become a standout champion who ushers in the people’s will, Ocasio-Cortez coordinated the development of a film that documents her push for her Green New Deal Climate Change agenda.
The trailer for the film boldly proclaimed there were “tens of thousands” joining her cause, that she had the power to threaten Democratic leaders with “losing their seats if they don’t support this,” and that “the fight has just begun.”
The film, ominously titled “To the End,” debuted in 120 theaters on December 9.
The Washington Examiner noted the film was a colossal failure, raking in less than $15,000 over two weekends — far less than promotional efforts — far less than the cost of just one camera.
The abysmal reception led distributors to pull the film, though AOC’s team was hoping the film would be selected for a “wider release pattern,” according to the Examiner.

The trailer is dramatic: “We are in a battle for the soul of the Democratic Party,” one supporter says after Ocasio-Cortez notes that she is fighting for the “most significant climate legislation in U.S. history.”
Though the trailer pledges, “we’re either going to go out in a blaze of glory or we’re going to win what we want,” some suggest a third option — that the movie will serve as a referendum on AOC’s policies and judgment.
The trailer ends with the phrase: “The fight has just begun.” Some, however, question whether or not Green New Deal initiatives are on life support.
The opening weekend numbers were appalling, according to The Numbers it was “a dismal grossing of $9,694.”
The film features activist Varshini Prakash, climate policy writer Rhiana Gunn-Wright, and political strategist Alexandra Rojas. In the movie, Green New Deal supporters attempt to rally people around the concept of climate justice.
“To the End” was directed by Rachel Lears, who also worked with Ocasio-Cortez on a 2019 documentary titled “Knock Down the House.”
Film critic site RogerEbert.com noted:
“To the End is more all-hands-on-deck than Knock Down the House,” “It’s inspiring to see, and To the End is set to ignite more Americans to take action. One setback is that it doesn’t feel to offer too clear a sense of what’s in the Green New Deal; instead, it’s about what a positive future these leaders could bring.”
